Avery Wallace ’14 writes, “I’m currently doing a year of service with Young Adults Global Mission (YAGM) through the ELCA. I live in Cuetzalan, Mexico and work in a small library in a village called Ayotzinapan. In addition to teaching English, I am helping to organize a project to collect the myths and legends from the elders of the community and preserve them through writing. I use Spanish to communicate on a day to day basis, but since Spanish is the secondary language in Ayotzinapan, I am also studying Nahuatl, the indigenous language.”
