The Prior Lake-Savage Area School District has announced its 2009-10 building teachers of the year. The district’s teacher of the year program is sponsored by the Prior Lake-Savage Education Association. Staff members from each building nominate teachers. Building honorees have the opportunity to enter the Minnesota teacher of the year award program.

Kelley Reiter ’03 is an English teacher at Twin Oaks Middle School. She has taught eighth-grade language arts in Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools for the past seven years. She currently teaches eighth-grade honors English and general English at Twin Oaks. Reiter received her bachelor of arts degree in English and teaching from Gustavus Adolphus College, as well as her master of arts degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of St. Catherine.For the past six years, she has been an assistant coach for the Prior Lake High School boys and girls cross country teams, as well as a TOMS/HOMS track coach. Additionally, she serves as a member of the faculty advisory committee.When she’s not teaching, coaching or working with kids in another capacity, she enjoys reading, going to concerts, frequenting the local coffee shops and spending time with her family and friends. She lives in southwest Minneapolis with her husband, Nate, and her two step-sons, Wes and Owen. In January, she and Nate will welcome a set of twins to their family.
