I recently received a nice honor from my professional association. I was named a “Fellow of the American College of Nurse-Midwives.”
Below is the brief bio sketch I submitted which will be published in the Sept issue of the Journal of Midwifery and Women’s Health.

Linda Bergstrom graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College, St. Peter MN, Teachers College, Columbia University, New York NY, the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, School of Nursing, Denver CO where she completed her doctoral work at the same time as her midwifery education. She engaged in clinical practice and midwifery education at the University of Colorado, East Carolina University, Greenville NC, and Indian Health Service, Rosebud SD. Now she is a Clinical Associate Professor at the College of Nursing, University of Utah, Salt Lake City, UT.
Dr. Bergstom has impacted midwifery though her exceptional scholarly work and publications primarily about second stage labor care. She was one of the first faculty members in the new midwifery education program at East Carolina University and, while working for the IHS, a sought-after clinical preceptor for many midwifery programs. She has a reputation as being an excellent mentor to midwifery students.
Dr. Bergstrom serves on the American Council for Midwifery Education as a senior site visitor continuously since 1994. Formerly she was a member of the ACNM program committee and the Board of Governors, Division of Education, Preceptor Support Section. Now she serves on the ACNM Division of Research, Dissemination Section. She has been an active member of her local ACNM chapters.
Dr. Bergstrom is now engaged in scholarship and mentoring. She writes for publication, teaches research methods and guides graduate students in midwifery and other majors as they complete either their MS or DNP final capstone projects.
