Hi, I recently had an audience with Mrs. Obama. I was in Washington DC attending a luncheon sponsored by the National Partnership for Women & Families, an advocacy organization I work with through my position at Sanofi US as Senior Director of Chronic Disease Prevention & Wellness. Mrs. Obama was the keynote speaker at the luncheon, and I was invited by the event organizers to have a private audience with the First Lady — I was among 16 out of 2,000 attendees to meet her. When we spoke, we talked about the important role mothers have today as the “Chief Wellness Officer” of their familes. We also shared thoughts on the importance of getting our children eating better and moving more, and for my 8 year-old son Jack I asked the First Lady what the bowling alleys were like at the White House! (Fyi, the alley at White House is “so-so,” but the two alleys at Camp Daivs “are awesome.”)
