AmeriCorps-VISTA479971_709421941110_548336339_n.jpgAfter working for Medica Health Plans in Minnetonka for two years following graduation, more recently I have taken a position as an AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteer in Service to America), for the Whatcom Alliance for Health Advancement (WAHA) in Bellingham, WA. I work in communications and development for WAHA, an organization that helps people gain access to health care and insurance, while also striving to improve the way health care is delivered within our local community.

Thus far my Scandinavian pride has proved to be a bit of an oddity here, but overall, the experience has been very rewarding. I truly believe in the importance of the work we are doing here, and that I am part of creating lasting changes that will dramatically improve the lives of others.

(In the photo, I am the one in the Green hat, a remnant of my days coaching tennis at Holy Family in Victoria, MN)
