Eric Cassady Miller ’08 and Danielle Tollefson Miller ’09 were married at Christ Chapel on Feb. 2, 2013 (reception was at AmericInn Mankato).
Funny story: They had a smooth wedding rehearsal – everyone was told where to stand and the plans for the ceremony were mapped out. At the very end of the rehearsal, the pastor (Danielle’s uncle Pastor Michael Zaske, Lutheran ELCA) asked one final question – “Who has the wedding certificate?” Danielle and Eric looked at each other in confusion. Their look communicated “We secured locations for the ceremony and the reception, we selected a caterer, we booked a DJ, we ordered a cake, we did all these things, but none of the checklists mentioned a wedding certificate.” Apparently, a couple planning to get married is supposed to apply for a marriage certificate prior to the ceremony. Since this requirement was neglected, the Millers weren’t actually married on 2.2.13 in the eyes of the state. They were actually married at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co in The Mall of America on 2.20.13 in the presence of Danielle’s parents and aunt and uncle (same Pastor Michael Zaske).
