Under the direction of Verlaine, an award-winning, international phenomenon and highly-accomplished classical ballet dancer/choreographer, a distinguished company of Twin Cities dancers and burlesque artists brings the exotic treats of the holiday classic The Nutcracker to life! Queenie Von Curves’ stars as the vivacious Snow Queen, Rebecca Abroe steps into Verlaine’s award-winning Arabian Coffee fantasy and Sweetpea heats up the stage as a smokin’ Hot Chocolate! These leading performances are supported by the exquisite work of the Sugarplums ensemble. Visions of Sugarplums is a rare treat to behold – a bawdy yet beautiful makeover of the Nutcracker ballet.

Hosted by DuBois and her Sugarplums, there is no doubt that this will be the hottest party of the season. Lovers of burlesque will swoon while and fans of dance, theater, music, and delicious holiday soirees will be thoroughly satisfied.

Lily Verlaine

“A living, breathing work of art,” Lily Verlaine is a classical ballet dancer and burlesque artist. She has studied at San Francisco Ballet and other notable schools with some of the most beloved names in ballet including David Howard, Laryssa Sklyanskaya, and Gelsey Kirkland. Lily has served as Artistic Director and Choreographer of “Land of the Sweets, The Burlesque Nutcracker,” “Through The Looking Glass: The Burlesque Alice In Wonderland” (2009) “L’Histoire de Melody Nelson” (2010) and “Burlesco DiVino: Wine in Rome” which debuted in Seattle to rave reviews in 2012.

Lily Verlaine has performed as a guest artist in Europe, Asia, Australia, Los Angeles, New York, New Zealand, Chicago, and at The Portland Art Museum. Her international influence continues to expand in the wake of her award-winning performance under the group name “Land of the Sweets” at the 2014 Burlesque Hall of Fame Tournament of Tease, appearances at high-profile charity events in Hong Kong and through the worldwide distribution of the documentary “A Wink and a Smile”, a film by Deirdre Timmons. Lily is also proud to be featured on the label of The Mortal Vintner’s 2012 “Lily Verlaine Viognier.”

Nadine DuBois

Internationally-acclaimed Mistress of Ceremonies and singer, Nadine DuBois travels the world crooning and caressing audiences of burlesque, drag, fashion, music and theatre. A fierce triple-threat and a leader and icon in the modern burlesque movement, she has charmed crowds from The Burlesque Hall of Fame in Las Vegas, across the USA, and throughout Australia and New Zealand.

Also known as a prolific producer and artistic director, Ms. DuBois has an extensive repertoire. She is the creator and star of her own Follies revue, as well as a host of cabarets, theatrical productions, burlesque festivals, and large-scale dance nights in her hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota and throughout the US.”
