Donald Granberg ’63, recently published a book entitled The Monty Hall Dilemma: A Cognitive Illusion Par Excellence. The book deals with the famous “Three Door” problem that originated with the Let’s Make a Deal television show and became controversial when Marilyn vos Savant wrote about it in four PARADE Magazine columns. Granberg’s contribution was to build on this intriguing mathematical problem by creating models for experimental choices in which people indicated their initial choice. Then they received additional information prior to making a final decision.
