Gustie Night at the Fringe

For decades, hundreds of Gustavus theatre  and dance students, alumni, and faculty have performed and participated in the Minnesota Fringe Festival. This year is no exception, with the department officially represented in Keiko Kasza’s A Mother for Choco (& Other Mother Stories), a Kid’s Fringe piece developed by Amy Seham and Anne Sawyer-Aitch, in collaboration with a cast of student performers.

We will be celebrating our connections as students, alumni, and faculty with a reception at the Bedlam Theatre, 1501 South 6th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55454, in the back fireplace room on Saturday, Aug. 1, at 9 p.m. For more information and to RSVP (not necessary but appreciated), please e-mail Andrea Gross.

  1. Thanks for including “The Red Tureen” in this posting. Would it be possible to add in the names of the alumni who are connected to it? Here is some info you could pull from.

Co-creators Kevin Bowen (’83) – (music and lyrics) and James Lundy (’81) – (book) spent the past four years developing their story, and the last six months editing a 60 minute Fringe-friendly version.

The Gustavus and South-Central Minnesota connections in this production run throughout. Bowen & Lundy first met while attending Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota in 1979. Longtime Gustavus Theater Director, Rob Gardner provided periodic feedback on the script, and former student and current freelance journalist, William Randall Beard (’78), has lent feedback on the original score. One current Gustavus student, Christian DeMarais (’11) will be performing as Publican Lonan McMonigal during the Festival.

    Thanks,
    Kevin
