I will receive my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine on April 30th, 2011. On April 15th, at the Spring Awards Banquet, I was lucky enough to be honored with several scholarships and awards from private donors and veterinary specialty associations, including the Caleb Dorr Scholarship and Award, Augustus Searles Scholarship for Women, Maxwell the White Shadow Memorial Scholarship, Eisenberg Family Scholarship, Nestlé Purina PetCare Nutrition Award, American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists Award, Veterinary Cancer Society Senior Student Award, American College of Veterinary Radiology Award, and membership to Phi Zeta Kappa (a veterinary honor society). The most notable of these was the Caleb Dorr Award, which is given to the senior veterinary student graduating with the highest academic standing in the class. After graduation, I start my dream job as a small animal general practitioner at Peterson Veterinary Clinic in East Grand Forks, MN. Thank you to the professors, mentors, and classmates at Gustavus who helped me achieve my 18-year goal of becoming a veterinarian!
