Whitey Skoog, former Gustavus men’s basketball and golf coach, will be honored by the University of Minnesota on Feb. 22 when they retire his basketball jersey at halftime of the Northwestern game. Peter Haugen was named the new head football coach in mid-December. Haugen posted an 111-44 record in 15 years at Washburn High School. He is the 17th head coach in the 93-year history of Gustavus football. Haugen will start the second week of January.
Senior running back Ray Wilson set a single-game rushing school record with 258 yards on 28 carries and two touchdowns in the 34-31 win over Augsburg Oct. 25. Wilson broke the school record of 252 rushing yards set by Andy Traetow against Hamline on Oct. 26, 2002.
