photoThe 19th annual Building Bridges Conference, titled “Disposable Communities? Demanding Environmental Justice,” will be held on Saturday, March 8. This student-initiated, student-led diversity conference will engage in important dialogue that will challenge the disposability of our communities and our Earth. In particular, the conference will focus on the intersections of race, class, identity, and the environment. Van Jones, political activist, environmental justice advocate, and author of The Green Collar Economy, will be this year’s first keynote speaker. The second keynote address will be grassroots environmental justice activist and organizer Alexie Torres-Fleming, who will speak on community empowerment in response to environmental burdens.
