New Look Coming for Alumni Webpage

Posted on July 3rd, 2014 by

new-webComing in the fall, the Alumni & Parent Engagement team will launch a brand new look and feel for the alumni section on the Gustavus website. We’re extremely excited to give you a sneak peak into what you can expect. Here are three new features we think you’re going to enjoy:

  1. Redesigned Landing Page
  2. Cleaner navigation
  3. Page previews

Redesigned Landing Page

We found that our visitors are, more often than not, visiting our pages to find information about upcoming events, on and off campus. So, we created a brand new way to explore events, specifically for alumni, right at the top. You can quickly see what events are coming up and allows you to sort by pre-selected categories (e.g. Homecoming, Reunions, Young Alumni, etc.).

Below the calendar, you’ll find access to the latest @Gustavus newsletter, as well as news stories from the Gustavus homepage. Located below that are three new sections that 1) summarize class notes (alumni news), 2) show our social links, and 3) display our giving societies/affinity groups.

We think you’re going to like this page so much that you’ll want to make it your Gustavus home page!

Cleaner Navigation

We know that navigating the alumni webpages has became a little bit challenging over the years. We’ve now consolidated the content into four main categories: Gustie for Life, Gather, Connect, Give. Each of these categories will hold the information you’re looking for. Here’s a breakdown:

Gustie for Life Gather Connect Give
Alumni Association Chapters Classes Campaign Gustavus
Alumni Awards Homecoming Gribly Financial Gifts
Events Reunions Publications Gifts of Service
Resources Networking Social Stream Mentoring
Young Alumni Refer a Gustie

Page Previews

All four categories mentioned above (Gustie for Life, Gather, Connect, Give) have sub-landing pages, which give you quick previews into the pages that branch off of it. This includes some quick links that allow you to access content faster. The new layout will also allow for you to “stumble” upon something you may not have been looking for.

We think you’re going to love it!
