Gustavus’ oldest graduate, Adele Regner Stearns, Class of 1922, a resident of Amery, WI, died November 11 at the age of 108. Stearns was a retired school teacher and church and community volunteer. Her love of travel brought her to all 50 states, Europe three times, Greece, Israel, Spain, Ireland, Guatemala, Mexico, the Orient, Portugal, Russia, and Canada coast-to-coast.
On her Gustavus 50th anniversary survey completed in 1972 she stated, “My greatest rewards have been as a wife, mother, and Christian. Is not that the aim of Gustavus in preparing its graduates for life?”
