Twelve Gustavus trumpeters played as part of the Bemidji State Trumpet Invitational performance of the National Anthem at the Twins game at Target Field on April 25th. The music arrangement was written by Steve Wright (music faculty) and featured trumpeters Cory Ruegg ’12, Julie Hill ’12, Matthew Martin ’12, Nick Mason ’14, Tim Grev ’13, Nick Hamberg ’13, Mariah Krusemark ’13, Dan Leifermann ’14, Karl Boettcher ’11, Chris Allen ’14 (bass trumpet), plus faculty members Douglas Nimmo and Steve Wright.

120 trumpeters of all ages participated in this year’s performance. This is the 2nd annual Twins event, which began in May of 2011 when Wright co-hosted the 37th annual International Trumpet Guild Conference in Minneapolis. That five day conference broke an all-time attendance record, with over 1,400 trumpeters from all over the world attending.
