Encounters with Gusties! Posted on September 12th, 2012 by

Andrew Setterholm ’11 had a random encounter with another Gustie –
“I’m working for a newspaper in Pinedale, Wyoming, the Sublette Examiner, editorial staff of three. Pinedale (pop. 1,400) is in the least populated county in the least populated state in the U.S. Obviously I wasn’t expecting to have any Gustie encounters.
The other day I was doing an interview for a feature profile with an author, a native of Pinedale, Kate Neely Meadows. She just published her first two books and is now living in California. I called to do the interview on my cell phone, and Kate recognized the 651 area code. She asked if I was from Minnesota. I said yes. She said she had gone to school in MN, at a small college called Gustavus.
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing, but replied that I too had graduated from GAC. As it turned out, Kate graduated in ’06 and recalled having classes with my older sister Dana, an ’07 grad.
Kate and I chatted about the great profs we both had, including the phenomenal Joyce Sutphen, the unforgettable Phil Bryant and (the best advisor ever) Baker Lawley.
Kate is coming to Pinedale to promote her two books. Can’t wait to meet and chat about life on the hill.”
